Georgia Fielding (b. 2005, London) is an artist primarily working in oil paint and printmaking to create dreamscapes built from memories of sleepless nights, moments of solitude and intimate spaces. She is currently fixated on these dream-like bedroom and bathroom scenes stemming from personal memory and understanding of these spaces. Playing with stereotypical elements and objects that make up a bathroom or a bedroom she builds and forms these scenes, none of the spaces are real but formed from memory and idea of what a typical bathroom or bedroom can look like. These spaces are of particular interest because of their inherent privacy and intimacy, spaces that can be solely one’s own and can be the most vulnerable of environments.
Fielding enjoys playing with the figure to extend, exaggerate and melt them with the distorted furniture into one flowing image, and to push how far some elements can go but still be a recognisable moment. Depicting the figure and particularly women’s lives have always been central to her practice. This has turned to a personal reflection through her paintings. Although her current practice does not intend to be self-portraiture, it is still informed by personal experience.
She is currently studying Fine Art Painting at Camberwell College of Arts. Selected works are currently available for purchase on Jacksons Art Gallery.
